'Corona Revenge Spending' Samsung and LG, Q3 TV Shipments Surge
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics' TV shipments in the third quarter showed significant increases.
According to market research firm TrendForce on the 9th, LG Electronics' TV shipments in the third quarter increased by 81.7% compared to the previous quarter, while Samsung Electronics' shipments rose by 67.1%.
TrendForce reported that global TV shipments in the third quarter of this year totaled approximately 62.05 million units, marking the highest quarterly shipment volume ever recorded.
This represents an increase of 38.8% compared to the previous quarter and 12.9% compared to the same period last year.
TrendForce analyzed that this was the result of a combination of factors, including the rescheduling of TV shipments originally postponed in the first quarter due to the COVID-19 pandemic, increased TV demand in the North American market, and the cyclical boom in the third quarter.
