[2020 National Audit] Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, "No Grounds to Restrict Police Officers from Law School"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong of the National Police Agency stated that there is no basis to restrict active police officers attending law schools unless there is an illegal reason.
On the 8th, during the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of the National Police Agency, Commissioner Kim responded to a related inquiry by Kim Min-chul, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "Since being a lawyer is a qualification, it is useful for police work and also a good means after retirement, so many seem to attend law school."
Regarding the point that some attend law school while on parental leave, Commissioner Kim said, "We will take action against misuse of leave or vacation for purposes other than intended."
