Prosecutors to Summon Rep. Kim Hong-gul on the 10th for 'Asset Underreporting' Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Kim Hong-gul, a member of the Democratic Party who was expelled due to allegations of underreporting assets, will appear at the prosecution for investigation on the 10th.
According to the legal community on the 8th, the Public Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kwon Sang-dae) will summon Representative Kim on the morning of the 10th to verify the circumstances of the underreporting of assets. It is known that the prosecution coordinated the investigation date with Kim's side considering the National Assembly's audit schedule.
Earlier, it was revealed that before the general election, Kim omitted an apartment pre-sale right worth over 1 billion won during asset disclosure, reducing the number of reported houses from four to three. In response, the Democratic Party investigated the related allegations through the Ethics Inspection Team but expelled Kim from the party for not cooperating sincerely. Subsequently, the National Election Commission referred Kim to the prosecution for investigation.

Meanwhile, the prosecution plans to handle the case early next week after completing the investigation of Representative Kim. The statute of limitations for election crime cases related to the 21st general election expires at midnight on the 15th.
