Seoul Metropolitan Council Chairman Kim In-ho, Council Spokespersons Choi Seon and Han Ki-young Appointed
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Kim In-ho, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, appointed Assemblyman Choi Seon (The Democratic Party, Gangbuk District 3) and Assemblyman Han Ki-young (The Democratic Party, Proportional Representation) as spokespersons for the Seoul Metropolitan Council to enhance relations with the media and strengthen media promotion, and presented their appointment certificates on the morning of the 7th in the Chairperson's reception room.
The spokespersons operate based on the Seoul Metropolitan Council Spokesperson Establishment Regulation (Council Regulation No. 118) and are responsible for promoting major legislative activities of the Seoul Metropolitan Council and making official external statements.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Council Spokesperson Establishment Regulation, there can be up to two spokespersons and up to five deputy spokespersons, appointed by the Chairperson with the consent of the members.
Chairperson Kim In-ho stated, “To expedite the true era of local autonomy and decentralization, it is necessary to share the legislative and policy activities of the Seoul Metropolitan Council with more citizens, thereby gaining citizens’ empathy and trust in the Council’s activities. I believe that strengthening media promotion is the most important means to achieve this.”
He also said, “We have decided to appoint new spokespersons to significantly strengthen the relationship between the Seoul Metropolitan Council and the media and to carry out more active media promotion activities than ever before.”
Chairperson Kim emphasized, “Going forward, we will activate briefings on major legislative matters and expand media opportunities for coverage and information accessibility by providing information in advance rather than focusing solely on post-event press releases.”
