At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 7th, Floor Leader Kim said, “There are limits and principles even in negotiations. Bills that have a significant impact on our economy and the lives of the people should not be bargained over.”
He pointed out, “It is very regrettable that the People Power Party treats the Fair Economy 3 Acts (amendments to the Fair Trade Act and Commercial Act, and the enactment of the Financial Group Supervision Act) and labor laws as bargaining chips,” adding, “If the amendment of labor laws is a political card presented to hinder the Fair Economy 3 Acts, it is appropriate to withdraw the proposal to amend them.”
Floor Leader Kim emphasized, “The People Power Party insists on a ‘one-shot’ handling of the two bills, but regarding labor laws, they are only now forming an internal task force (TF) and beginning to review the bills,” and added, “The fact that they had not uttered a single word until now and suddenly started legislative review itself is evidence that they are using labor-related laws as a political tool.”
Regarding the delay in recommending opposition party members for the High-ranking Officials’ Crime Investigation Unit (HCIC), he pressured, “I hope the candidate recommendation committee for the HCIC chief will be appointed before the national audit ends.” Floor Leader Kim also hinted that if the recommendation is not made by the deadline he set, the Democratic Party will proceed with unilateral legislative amendments.
He said, “If they think they can block the launch of the HCIC by stalling, they are mistaken,” and added, “If the opposition party continues its dereliction of duty and tyranny, the Democratic Party will have no choice but to proceed with legislative amendments to launch the HCIC.”
He continued, “If the People Power Party does not recommend members, it can only be regarded as voluntarily giving up the authority granted by law,” and clarified, “Once again, the deadline for recommendations is before the end of the national audit.”
