Chonnam National University and International Climate Environment Center to Jointly Promote Green New Deal Project
Signing of MOU for Local Talent Development
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chonnam National University is jointly promoting a Green New Deal project linked to the region with the International Climate Environment Center.
The Chonnam National University Regional Leading University Development Project Group (Director Professor Jo Seong-yong) recently signed a business agreement with the International Climate Environment Center and announced on the 6th that they will jointly promote Green New Deal-related projects and educational programs in the post-COVID-19 era to foster local talent.
The two organizations agreed to cooperate particularly in operating linked programs in the smart energy sector.
The Chonnam National University Regional Leading University Development Project Group operates programs in the energy field such as ▲visits to excellent energy-related companies ▲employment and start-up camps and seminars ▲support for various forums and small group clubs.
Through this business agreement, ▲employment and entrepreneurship capacity-building programs ▲joint programs related to the regional Green New Deal will also be launched.
Director Jo Seong-yong said, “The COVID-19 pandemic situation is closely related to the climate environment, making sustainable projects that coexist with the environment even more important,” adding, “The university and institutions will form a network to lead the realization of the Green New Deal in the local community and strive to foster local talent in related fields.”

The Regional Leading University Development Project, which started in July last year, currently involves six universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam including Gwangju University, Mokpo National University, and Chosun University, covering four fields: ICT, energy, urban regeneration, and bio-agriculture.
