[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 6th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held a commendation ceremony for citizens who contributed to the development of elderly welfare at Palyongsan Hall in the county office on the 5th to commemorate the ‘24th Senior Citizens' Day.’
Goheung-gun has held commemorative events every October during Senior Citizens' Month to express respect and gratitude to the elderly. However, this year, due to COVID-19 prevention measures and the safety of citizens, the commemorative event was inevitably canceled and was held simply with the presentation of commendation plaques to the contributors.
The award ceremony was conducted in compliance with social distancing quarantine rules, presenting plaques to 25 individuals, including seniors who have been exemplary through their devoted sacrifice and volunteer spirit, and contributors to the promotion of elderly welfare. Bouquets were also presented to the awardees along with congratulatory remarks.
County Governor Song Guigeun said, “I thank the seniors who have played a pivotal role in regional development with their wisdom and experience despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19,” and added, “We will do our best to improve elderly welfare so that seniors can live healthy and happy lives.”
