9 Industrial Complexes Added in Gangjin and Cheongju... Expanded to a Total of 117 Sites
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Mewon] Nine industrial complexes have been added in Gangjin and Goheung in Jeollanam-do, and Cheongju in Chungbuk. As a result, the total number of industrial complexes has increased to 117.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 6th that the third amendment to the '2020 Industrial Complex Designation Plan' prepared by cities and provinces was approved as originally proposed by the Industrial Location Policy Committee.
The number of industrial complexes increased from a total of 108 sites covering 34.57㎢ to 117 sites covering 35.73㎢.
Nine new industrial complexes were added, and the development plans for three existing complexes were changed.
In Jeollanam-do, Gangjin 2nd General Industrial Complex and four agricultural and industrial complexes in Yeonggwang-gun, Haenam-gun, Boseong-gun, and Goheung-gun were newly designated. These areas will attract industries such as chemical product manufacturing, other machinery manufacturing, food manufacturing, and information and communication industries for smart farming.
In Ulsan, a new KTX station area general industrial complex was established to attract metal manufacturing and technical service industries, and the Samnam Geomeobon industrial complex was also newly established to operate food manufacturing.
In Chungbuk, the Cheongju Aeropolis 2 District general industrial complex, included in the Free Economic Zone, was newly designated to foster industries related to aircraft maintenance parts.
Additionally, in Gyeongnam, the plan for Sacheon Western General Industrial Complex was changed to attract machinery and metal processing industries, and in Gyeonggi-do, Hwaseong Mado 2nd General Industrial Complex (metal manufacturing) was newly established.
In Chungnam, Cheonan 5th General Industrial Complex was expanded to attract other machinery manufacturing industries, and the boundary of the Yedang 2nd General Industrial Complex (automobile parts industry) was adjusted.
The Ministry of Land plans to notify cities and provinces of the amended industrial complex designation plan on the 7th. Each city and province will announce the industrial complex designation plan and then proceed with the approval process for each complex.

Kim Geun-oh, Director of the Industrial Location Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, said, "We will comprehensively review the supply and demand status of industrial complexes by region to create jobs and strengthen industrial competitiveness by supplying industrial sites tailored to regional characteristics."
