[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Government-proposed policy tasks aimed at establishing an economic foundation for youth, such as youth allowances and the Youth Proper Income Growth Account (tentative name), will be finalized.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 6th that the Youth Special Committee will hold a plenary session online on the 9th to finalize the policy tasks to be proposed to the government this year.
Launched in May, the Youth Special Committee consists of about 500 members, including youth representatives from 17 regional cities and provinces and youth selected centrally. Under the theme "Youth Standing on Their Own, Shouting the Future at the Center of the World," discussions have been held on youth independence in the areas of employment, protection, and economy. Regarding employment, tasks such as improving perceptions of youth labor and enhancing various clubs for employment and entrepreneurship have been discussed; in the protection area, strengthening support for the independence of out-of-school youth; and in the economic area, tasks such as youth allowances and the Youth Proper Income Growth Account have been deliberated.
The proposed tasks will be finalized through an online vote by all members of the National Youth Special Committee and will be recommended to relevant government ministries through the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. In December, a results report meeting will be held where youth will directly present the policy tasks they propose to the government.
