Literacy education is a learning program that supports adults who have not had educational opportunities due to social and economic reasons to obtain recognized academic qualifications. In 2011, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education was the first in the nation to implement literacy education recognized as elementary school academic achievement, and in 2014, it was expanded to include middle school academic recognition.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary this year, a literacy education poetry and painting exhibition titled "10 Years Together, Connecting Learning. Creating Happiness" will be held, featuring works by learners and literacy teachers. Along with poetry and paintings, 2- and 4-line acrostic poems themed on study, Hangul, and literacy education will also be displayed. The special exhibition includes messages from the first graduating class and learners who proudly entered university as the class of 2020 after graduating from literacy education.
The online exhibition will be available until December 31, and visitors can view the exhibition site, poetry and painting works, and awardees' impression videos through the website account and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's YouTube channel.
