The criminal patrol boat redeployed this time was built on January 20, 2020. It is a 100-ton class vessel with a length of 31.8m and a width of 6.1m, equipped with two 3,650-horsepower propulsion engines capable of speeds exceeding 40 knots (74 km/h), and carries one rubber boat.
The area under the jurisdiction of Yeosu Maritime Police has heavy traffic of large vessels and many illegal fishing activities such as unauthorized diving. The criminal patrol boat deployed this time is expected to greatly assist in crime control and maritime security maintenance in the Yeosu waters.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, “The newly redeployed latest criminal patrol boat will strengthen personnel and equipment, conduct internal teamwork training, and then begin full-scale maritime security missions.” He added, “It will be able to respond quickly to maritime crime control and arrest, as well as life-saving activities.”
