[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Amid the hospitalization of U.S. President Donald Trump due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Robert O'Brien, the White House National Security Council (NSC) advisor, has issued a warning about the possibility of election interference by hostile countries such as Russia.
On the 4th (local time), during an interview with CBS's 'Face the Nation,' Advisor O'Brien delivered a strong warning about the possibility of interference in the November U.S. presidential election, stating, "Last week, I met with the Russian side and made it clear that there would be no tolerance if they interfered in the U.S. presidential election."
He said, "I also demanded that Russia not involve itself in voting and vote counting," and explained, "Russia promised not to interfere in the election." He further emphasized, "We will also be watching, but the Russians have sworn not to interfere in the election."
He explained that he conveyed this warning on the 1st in Geneva, Switzerland, to Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Security Council and a close aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and received a response.
