[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu is accelerating the construction of the 20,000-seat popular music venue 'Seoul Arena.' Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated on the 6th that the expected economic effect of Seoul Arena is "about 2.7 million people will visit Dobong-gu for performances, and we expect considerable ripple effects."
It is estimated that about 300 new cultural enterprises and approximately 13,000 new jobs will be created. The mayor said, "The cultural industrial complex is currently under development, and construction of a 49-story building worth about 360 billion won is underway."
Large-scale projects such as the Robot Science Museum and the Photography Art Museum are also progressing around the area. For these cultural facilities to thrive, transportation infrastructure improvements are essential. Currently, Dobong-gu is showing strong determination to promote the KTX Northeast Extension Project along with the GTX-C line. The mayor said, "The GTX-C line has been confirmed and is under progress, and we are actively requesting the KTX extension project." The request is to extend the line, which currently ends at Suseo Station, to Samsung-dong, Cheongnyangni, Chang-dong, and Uijeongbu. The Samsung-dong~Cheongnyangni~Chang-dong~Uijeongbu route is the same as the GTX-C line. The mayor added, "Although the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been passive on this issue, we are conveying the residents' strong will that it must be realized, and we expect it to happen."
