Over 3,000 New COVID-19 Cases Daily in Moscow, Returning to Mid-May Levels...
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Russia is rapidly increasing. For the first time since May, the number of confirmed cases has exceeded 10,000, raising concerns.
On the 4th (local time), the Russian government announced that 10,499 new infections were reported nationwide, including Moscow, over the past day, bringing the total confirmed cases to 1,215,001. The number of new confirmed cases increased by more than 600 compared to the previous day's 9,859, marking the highest level since May 15, when there were 10,598 cases.
The number of new confirmed cases in the capital, Moscow, also exceeded 3,000. In Moscow, 3,327 new cases were reported in one day, bringing the total confirmed cases to 303,940. The number of new cases in Moscow had remained in the 3,000 range until mid-May, then dropped to the 2,000 range, but has recently started to rise again.

Russia ranks fourth in the world in terms of the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases, following the United States, India, and Brazil. The number of new confirmed cases peaked at around 11,000 in mid-May and then declined, dropping to the 4,000 range in mid-August, but has been increasing again since early September, surpassing 10,000 again as of the previous day.
