Lee Nak-yeon "Will Discuss Whether COVID-19 Restrictions Can Be Eased a Bit More"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 4th, "We have a strong and meticulous quarantine system, but the inconvenience that comes with it is reaching an almost critical limit."
At a field meeting on vulnerable care related to COVID-19 held at a study room in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Lee said, "It is difficult to speak lightly, but we need to closely consult with the quarantine authorities about whether some of the measures we have taken so far can be eased."
Lee listened to difficulties from various groups facing care gaps, including people with disabilities, single-parent families, and medical staff households. He said, "Even without the COVID-19 crisis, government efforts do not meet social demands. The crisis has exacerbated the suffering," adding, "How to address the wounds of the COVID generation is a huge challenge."
Lee also said, "I am not sure if now is the time to ease (quarantine measures)," and asked for understanding, saying, "Please understand that it is difficult to lightly say when the situation allows for easing (quarantine guidelines)."

Regarding care, Lee said, "The difficulty lies in the fact that each household has different circumstances, care times vary depending on parents' work, and the type of care needed changes as children grow," adding, "I am not saying we will provide all solutions immediately, but knowing what demands might exist is the beginning of solving the problem."
