CU, Korea's First to Sell 'Hancom Office 1-Year License'
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] CU will launch the country's first office program as a physical product on the 8th.
The office program CU is introducing this time is ‘Hancom Office 2020,’ a gift card-type product that includes a product number called a serial number.
This product is a 1-year license for home and student use, allowing users to utilize various document programs such as Hangul, Hanword, Hanshow, Hancell, and HanPDF. It is sold at 35,200 KRW, which is a 25% discount from the regular price on online malls.
Users can register the product number on the purchased gift card after signing up on the Hancom website and immediately use it by downloading and installing it on one designated computer.
The reason CU is selling the office program in physical form is that due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, telecommuting, studying, and lectures at home have become common, increasing the demand for related programs.
The unmanned multifunction printer service operated by CU at about 500 locations such as one-room districts, university areas, and residential neighborhoods also increased sharply by 211.7% compared to the previous year.
The unmanned multifunction printer service allows copying, printing, faxing, and scanning, as well as downloading and printing or sending electronic documents such as resident registration certificates and language test scores directly from websites or clouds using a PC linked to the multifunction printer.
In particular, the usage growth rate of this service in the first quarter of this year was 111.5%, but it showed a figure more than twice as high at 266.1% in the second and third quarters, when telecommuting and online classes expanded due to social distancing.
