A Man in His 50s Arrested for Wielding a Weapon at the Family of His Ex-Cohabiting Partner

The Hwasun Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that they have apprehended and are investigating A (51) on charges of attempted murder for wielding a weapon against the family of his ex-cohabiting partner.
A is accused of wielding a weapon at around 9:30 a.m. that day at a house in Hwasun-eup, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, injuring two younger sisters of his ex-cohabiting partner B (49) and one sister’s husband.
One of the younger sisters stabbed by the weapon wielded by A sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a hospital, while the other two also suffered arm wounds and received hospital treatment.
A himself was also severely injured on his hand while wielding the weapon and received hospital treatment.
According to the police investigation, A visited the house of B’s parents, where B was staying, to discuss the disposal of the house where they had been cohabiting.
During this process, a verbal dispute broke out between A and B, and it was revealed that A took out a weapon he had prepared in advance.
Startled by the weapon, B fled the scene, but the family members who were with her were attacked.
B’s family had reportedly visited their parents’ house from another region to celebrate Chuseok.
A was arrested on the spot as a suspect in the act by police officers who responded to the report from B’s family.
