China to Provide Self-Developed COVID-19 Vaccine to the World at a Reasonable Price
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine being developed in China will be provided to the world at a reasonable price.
According to Xinhua News Agency on the 1st, Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing the previous day, "Vaccines are being developed in several countries, but it is uncertain how the prices will be set," adding, "We will provide the vaccine as a public good to the world at a reasonable price."
He stated that media reports suggesting that the COVID-19 vaccine developed by China would be more expensive than vaccines from the United States or Europe are unfounded.
Spokesperson Wang also said, "China will first provide vaccines to developing countries through various means, including free aid."
