Gyeongnam, 8.66 Confirmed Cases per 100,000 People... Second Lowest Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The incidence rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Gyeongnam region was found to be the second lowest nationwide.
Gyeongnam Province announced on the 1st that as of the 29th of last month, there were 291 confirmed cases in the province (including 3 cases initially negative but later managed as confirmed cases).
Based on the population of 3,361,344 as of January this year, this corresponds to 8.66 cases per 100,000 people. This incidence rate is the second lowest nationwide, following Jeonbuk's 6.88 cases. It is 36.98 cases lower than the national average of 45.64 cases.

The incidence rate was significantly lower than nearby local governments such as Daegu (292.63 cases) and Gyeongbuk (57.95 cases), where confirmed cases surged mainly among Shincheonji followers, as well as Seoul (53.74 cases), Gyeonggi (32.81 cases) in the metropolitan area, and Busan (12.10 cases), Ulsan (12.73 cases).
