Ulsan City Saves 1 Billion KRW in Construction Costs Through Public Sale "Kkwongmeokgo Almeokgo"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City has enjoyed a "pleasant profit" by selling rocks excavated from road construction sites, saving 1 billion KRW in construction costs.
The Ulsan City General Construction Headquarters publicly sold blasting rocks (72,231㎥) generated from tunnel excavation processes in the GW Industrial Complex access road construction project to aggregate sorting and crushing companies.
Through this sale, a total profit of 1 billion KRW was made from soil disposal fees and raw stone sales revenue, thereby reducing construction costs by the same amount.
Instead of simply treating the rocks as soil, selling them allowed for resource recycling, achieving a twofold benefit.
Until now, Ulsan City has mostly supplied blasting rocks generated during civil engineering works free of charge to embankment sites and related companies.
However, this time, the blasting rocks were judged to have sufficient recycling value, leading to the decision to proceed with a public sale.
The sold blasting rocks are expected to be recycled as aggregates for asphalt concrete and ready-mixed concrete.
