Ministry of Culture operates 'Dokkaebi Bookstore'... Receipts from large, online, and used bookstores excluded
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Federation of Bookstores, and the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency announced on the 28th that they will operate the 'Dokkaebi Bookstore.' This is a reading culture support project that exchanges book purchase receipts for books. It was established to help small and medium-sized bookstores struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to encourage reading, a non-face-to-face cultural activity. From this month until November, receipts for purchases of 5,000 won or more at local bookstores can be exchanged for books. However, receipts from large, online, and used bookstores are excluded. The exchange periods are from October 28 to November 3 and from November 25 to December 1, twice in total. By registering on the local bookstore website 'Seojeomon' and verifying the book receipt, participants can receive books for free. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis until the prepared books run out. The books available for exchange are creative works published within the last three years, selected through expert review. Applicants can choose one category among 'Adult Dokkaebi,' 'Youth Dokkaebi,' or 'Children's Dokkaebi,' and a book will be randomly provided within the selected category.
