People Power Party Forms TF on 'North Korea Shooting and Burning Atrocities'... First Meeting Today
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The People Power Party's 'Task Force (TF) for Investigating North Korea's Atrocities of Shooting and Burning Our Citizens' will hold its first meeting on the 26th in response to the Yeonpyeong Island shooting incident.
The People Power Party announced that the TF's first meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on the same day, attended by Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in and Secretary-General Kim Seon-dong.
The TF is led by Han Ki-ho, vice chairman of the People Power Party's Foreign Affairs and Security Special Committee and secretary of the National Assembly's Defense Committee, and includes members such as Shin Won-sik from the Defense Committee, Jo Tae-yong, Ji Seong-ho, and Tae Yong-ho from the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, Ha Tae-kyung, secretary of the National Assembly Intelligence Committee, Kim Seok-ki, secretary of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, and Jeong Jeom-sik from the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee.
The People Power Party stated, "We will clearly uncover all suspicions surrounding this incident, thoroughly communicate to the public not only North Korea's responsibility but also the problems in the government's response, and establish future countermeasures."
The People Power Party plans to take measures such as adopting a resolution condemning North Korea, conducting urgent inquiries, adopting a UN Security Council resolution, and filing a case with the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding this incident.
On the 25th, Floor Leader Joo Ho-young said in an interview with CBS Radio's 'Sisa Jaki Jung Kwan-yong' that, "First, we will adopt a resolution condemning North Korea, request urgent inquiries, and then step-by-step file a case with the International Criminal Court regarding this inhumane crime, and also make every effort to have a resolution adopted by the UN Security Council."
