Training Practical Talent for Broadcast Media... Recruiting Trainees and Participating Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Seolgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 27th that it will hold a public contest for the 2020 broadcasting media industry on-site training project from the 28th to October 25th to foster specialized personnel in broadcasting media.
This project has been promoted since 2016 to support practical on-site training through connections between industry and trainees for prospective broadcasters aspiring to become broadcasting media producers.
The recruitment targets are specialized high school and university students, unemployed individuals who wish to work in the broadcasting media field with hiring intentions, and related companies such as broadcasters, production companies, and Internet video service (OTT) providers. Thirty trainees will be selected to receive 120 hours of training within the year.
For companies, those possessing production know-how in five areas?5G mobile communication-based immersive technology, Internet video service (OTT), broadcasting planning, new technology trends, and lighting/stage?will be selected.
In particular, considering the increase in non-face-to-face broadcasting media content production due to the impact of COVID-19 this year, companies experienced in non-face-to-face content production technology are also included in the recruitment targets.
Six companies selected through screening will assign three or more instructors (mentors) to provide intensive advanced training and one-on-one education (mentoring) to trainees. Prospective personnel who complete the training course will also receive a predetermined activity allowance from the industry.
A Ministry of Science and ICT official stated, “It is important to cultivate talent that meets industry demand in the rapidly changing broadcasting media environment and to develop practical professionals who can be immediately deployed to the industrial field,” adding, “We will continuously strengthen on-site industry training and expand related support so that it can lead to employment linkage effects in the mid to long term.”
