Jeonnam Province Encourages Military and Police Personnel Sweating Over Flood Damage Recovery
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province held a time to encourage the military and police personnel who worked hard to overcome flood damage caused by heavy rain during the heatwave last August.
On the 25th, Jeonnam Province announced that it presented plaques of appreciation to the 31st Army Division, the 11th Airborne Special Forces Brigade, and the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, who voluntarily rushed to the flood damage recovery first and devoted themselves to service, as well as certificates of commendation to 25 individuals who contributed to flood recovery, conveying the hearts of the residents.
From August 5 to 9, record-breaking heavy rain fell in the Jeonnam area, causing numerous damages.
Civilian, government, military, and police worked together, sweating profusely to quickly recover from the damage and prevent further harm by organizing flooded houses, restoring buried roads, and helping affected farms with labor.
In particular, the 31st Army Division, the 11th Airborne Special Forces Brigade, and the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency deployed about 20,000 troops to Gurye, Gokseong, and Damyang counties, which were the most severely affected areas, even before Jeonnam Province’s support request, fighting the heatwave and focusing all efforts on the front lines of the damage sites to aid recovery.
Song Sangrak, Deputy Governor of Jeonnam Province, said, “We are grateful that many units, in addition to the 31st Army Division, the 11th Airborne Special Forces Brigade, and the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, actively cooperated in flood damage recovery,” and added, “In the future, civilian, government, military, and police will unite to actively cooperate so that any disaster can be overcome.”
