The newly appointed International Relations Ambassador Kim Byung-yeon graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Philosophy. He passed the 26th Foreign Service Examination in 1992 and began his public service career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has since served as Senior Deputy Director of the Planning Team for the Busan World Development Aid Conference, Counselor at the Embassy in Greece, Minister-Counselor at the Embassy in Switzerland, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Embassy in the Dominican Republic.
After presenting the appointment letter, Governor Kim Kyung-soo said in a conversation, "It is important for Gyeongnam to attract overseas investment now. There will be many tasks to handle, especially with active overseas exchanges centered on the economic sector, so I hope you will carefully oversee these matters," urging an active role in overseas economic exchanges.
