Gwanak-gu, Recruitment of New Participants for Nutrition Plus in the First Half of 2021
Up to 1 Year of Nutrition Education and Home Visit Counseling, Food Packages Provided by Target Group... Systematic Management for Nutritionally At-Risk Pregnant Women and Infants
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is recruiting participants for the ‘2021 First Half Nutrition Plus Project’ to promote healthy eating habits and nutritional improvement for pregnant women and infants.
The ‘Nutrition Plus Project’ is a health management support service that provides nutrition education and supplementary food for a certain period to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and infants with nutritional risk factors (anemia, stunting, underweight, dietary imbalance) to help the smooth development and growth of mothers and children.
The eligible participants are pregnant women, postpartum nursing mothers (who gave birth and breastfed after July 1, 2020), and infants under 60 months old (born after January 1, 2016) residing in Gwanak-gu with a household income at or below 80% of the median income. They must visit a public health center for a nutrition assessment to be selected. However, those who have participated in this project for more than 1 year and 6 months in the past are excluded.
Pre-registration can be made online from October 7 to October 16 via the district office website (Participation/Reservation → Participation Application → Administrative Reception), and from October 19 to November 6, applications can be submitted at the Gwanak-gu public health centers.
After registration, to evaluate eligibility, applicants must make a prior reservation and visit the public health center on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Risk factor assessments such as ▲anemia test ▲body measurement ▲nutritional intake survey will be conducted, and the final participants will be selected by combining the household size and income level (at or below 80% of the median income).
Selected participants will receive nutrition counseling related to meal intake for 6 months to 1 year starting January next year, monthly nutrition education once a month, and food packages tailored to their characteristics 1 to 2 times a month. Participation in the monthly nutrition education is mandatory, and failure to attend will result in disqualification.
Meanwhile, through the Nutrition Plus Project, the district supports health management services for a total of 360 pregnant women and infants this year, receiving high satisfaction from participants due to improved health through professional management.
