Lee Won-wook: "Drive-thru Rally? Ju Ho-young Provoked It"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Amid some conservative groups advocating holding the National Foundation Day rally on the 3rd of next month in a 'drive-through' format (while remaining inside vehicles), Lee Won-wook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized on the 23rd, saying, "Chairman Kim Jong-in instigated it, and now it's Floor Leader Joo Ho-young of the People Power Party."
On that day, Lee pointed this out in a post on his Facebook, criticizing, "This is why the 'Jeon Gwang-hoon-style collective madness' still haunts Gwanghwamun like a ghost."
The previous day, Floor Leader Joo had commented on far-right figures who announced a National Foundation Day rally and suggested holding it from inside vehicles, saying, "If it does not interfere with traffic and quarantine measures, isn't that their right?"
Lee stated, "Do not hide the purpose of the protest and the madness within it under the name of a drive-through," and criticized, "The drive-through screening clinic system, created by the government, is a method that allows for 'fast' and 'safe' COVID-19 testing and has been praised worldwide."
He added, "Yet the Floor Leader of the People Power Party, who defends those who want to adopt such a method for protests, repeatedly opposes the ruling party's methods aimed at the people, but now praises this as a right."
Furthermore, he pointed out, "To go further, the protest is not truly a drive-through method but simply a vehicle protest," and "If vehicle protests are expected to involve violence and threaten public safety, banning them is natural."
Lee also criticized Chairman Kim, saying, "Kim Jong-in proved himself to be from another world by comparing National Foundation Day rally participants to ancestors who took part in the March 1st Movement, praising their loyalty."

Earlier, on the 10th, Chairman Kim had said, "In 1919, despite 130,000 compatriots dying from the Spanish flu and the entire country being in panic, our ancestors took part in the March 1st Movement with patriotism, risking death. This moves me deeply, and as someone involved in politics, I even feel sorry," which drew criticism.
