"Online Lecture for Parents on 'How Our Children Overcome COVID Depression' Starting from the 23rd"
Ministry of Education Distributes School Psychological Quarantine Guidelines
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] The Ministry of Education announced on the 22nd that, together with the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, it will hold real-time online parent lectures every Wednesday at 8 p.m. from the 23rd of this month until the 28th of next month to overcome depression caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
In each lecture, psychiatric specialists will educate parents about symptoms and coping methods for 'COVID depression' (Corona Blue) that may occur in students, peer-related issues, smartphone and media addiction problems, and child-rearing coaching.
The education will be conducted via YouTube, and parents who wish to participate can apply in advance through the website. The topics include ▲school and learning, peer issues ▲depression, self-harm, and suicide ▲smartphone and media addiction ▲puberty and infectious disease issues ▲parenting coaching, among others.
Meanwhile, in response to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Education additionally distributed the 'Infectious Disease Response School Psychological Quarantine Guide,' which contains methods to cope with COVID depression, to schools on the 21st.
The guide includes the necessity of psychological quarantine in infectious disease situations and methods for psychological quarantine education tailored to different school members.
