Gyeonggi Fire Department Drastically Strengthens Investigation into Assaults on Paramedics
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is significantly strengthening investigations into assaults on paramedics. This measure aims to actively respond to the increasing assaults on paramedics each year. To this end, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters recently established a dedicated investigation team within the headquarters.
According to the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters on the 22nd, there were 127 cases of assaults on paramedics in the province over three years: 34 cases in 2017, 46 in 2018, and 47 in 2019. This year alone, as of the 15th of this month, 34 cases have occurred, showing an increasing trend annually.
Accordingly, in July, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters established the 'Safety and Order Team,' a dedicated investigation team for assaults on paramedics, and is currently investigating 10 cases of such assaults.
Compared to the past when frontline fire stations handled 1 to 3 cases of assaults on paramedics on their own, the number of investigations has significantly increased.
