Gwangju City Council Visits Social Welfare Facilities for Support
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Chairman Kim Yong-jip) announced on the 21st that it will visit social welfare facilities in the district to offer consolation ahead of Chuseok.
This consolation event will be conducted by the chairman and standing committee chairpersons representing 23 city council members, visiting eight social welfare facilities including those for the disabled, welfare centers, and children from today until the 28th.
The Gwangju City Council will conduct the visits with a minimal number of people to practice social distancing, reducing contact with facility workers and users. They will prepare consolation gifts mainly consisting of essential daily necessities that are practically needed by the facilities to express gratitude and comfort.
First to visit was Chairman Kim Yong-jip, who visited the ‘Bongseon Jiyok Child Center,’ a child welfare institution located on Daenam-daero in Nam-gu, and delivered consolation gifts.
The ‘Bongseon Jiyok Child Center’ is an institution that helps children in the community who need protection to grow into healthy members of society.
