[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hyundai Motor Company achieved consecutive double podiums (two drivers from the same team finishing on the podium) at the Turkey Rally, the 5th round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), following the 4th round. Hyundai also maintained 2nd place overall in the WRC manufacturers' standings, laying the foundation for a second consecutive championship this year.
Hyundai announced on the 21st that Thierry Neuville of the Hyundai World Rally Team finished second, and S?bastien Loeb finished third at the 2020 WRC 5th round held over three days from the 18th (local time) in Marmaris, Turkey. The WRC is a world-class motorsport event on par with F1 (Formula One), with rankings divided into driver and manufacturer categories.
On the 19th, Hyundai drivers Neuville and Loeb finished the Turkey Rally in 1st and 2nd place respectively, moving one step closer to victory. However, during the 9th stage on the morning of the 20th, Neuville lost the lead due to tire damage. Although Neuville dropped to 3rd place at one point because of the tire damage, he posted the fastest times in three stages on the final day of the Turkey Rally, narrowing the gap with the leaders. Ultimately, he finished 2nd, 35.2 seconds behind Elfyn Evans of the Toyota team.
Neuville competed in the 'i20 Coupe WRC' race car and demonstrated overwhelming skill by setting the fastest time in 7 out of the 12 stages of the Turkey Rally. His teammate Loeb also overcame tire damage and maintained stable driving, securing 3rd place once again.

Having won the WRC manufacturers' championship last year, Hyundai plans to thoroughly prepare for the remaining events to achieve a consecutive championship this year. The upcoming 6th round will be held in Italy from October 8.
