Court Sentences Gang for Forcing Drug Pills and Winning 24 Million Won Playing Screen Golf
Charges of Fraud and Violation of Narcotics Control Act... Main Perpetrator Sentenced to Imprisonment, Accomplice Given Probation
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] A gang that drugged their opponent with psychotropic drugs during betting screen golf and extorted tens of millions of won was sentenced to prison.
On the 20th, Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 5 Judge Lee Sang-yeop announced that the main perpetrator A (60), who was tried for fraud and violation of the Narcotics Control Act, was sentenced to three years in prison.
The court sentenced accomplice B (58), who was indicted on the same charges, to two years in prison with a three-year probation and ordered 120 hours of community service.
The court explained the reason for the prison sentence, stating, "Mr. A committed the crime without refraining during the probation period for fraud and made no effort to reach a settlement with the victim or compensate for the damage."
Additionally, the court stated the reason for suspending the sentence for Mr. B, considering "that he reached a settlement with the victim, the victim did not want punishment, and his role and degree of involvement in the crime were judged to be minor."
On March 28 at around 6 p.m., Mr. A and Mr. B secretly gave Mr. C a cup of tea laced with psychotropic pills before playing betting golf at a screen golf course in Gyeongnam.
After drinking the tea, Mr. C’s judgment and motor skills deteriorated, and he lost 10 million won playing betting golf that day.
