French COVID Testing Laboratory Workers Strike Demanding Improved Working Conditions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Private laboratories in the southern region of France conducting tests for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have gone on strike demanding improved working conditions.
According to local media on the 16th, 20 Biofusion laboratories located in the departments of Tarn-et-Garonne, Haute-Garonne, and Lot reportedly closed from the 15th (local time).
Due to government directives to significantly increase testing volume, the workload for laboratory staff has surged excessively, but appropriate compensation has not followed, leading to the strike.
This is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that PCR testing facilities in France have gone on strike.
