[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City announced on the 17th that 30 youths who prepared for the 2020 Qualification Exam at the ‘Out-of-School Youth Support Center’ passed the exam.
Out-of-school youths prepared for the Qualification Exam with effort and passion despite the difficult educational environment caused by COVID-19.
As a result, 34 youths affiliated with Dream Dream took the Qualification Exam held in the first and second rounds, and a total of 30 passed.
Youths who passed the Qualification Exam plan to continue their studies to prepare for higher education or to achieve other dreams such as job experience.
Out-of-school youths refer to those who have been expelled, withdrawn, or did not advance to higher education.
The city supported students’ exam preparation by operating one-on-one learning mentoring, Qualification Exam preparation classes, and basic learning preparation classes to help out-of-school youths return to their studies.
In particular, due to COVID-19, the city operated non-face-to-face programs such as online lectures and provision of textbooks to assist in passing the Qualification Exam.
A city official said, “Despite environmental difficulties such as changes in exam schedules and suspension of face-to-face education programs due to COVID-19, we applaud the youths who did their best until the end,” and added, “We will continue to support out-of-school youths with various programs.”
Meanwhile, the city provides customized services including counseling support, educational support, and independence support considering the personal characteristics and needs of out-of-school youths aged 9 to 24.
