Dongjak-gu Implements Comprehensive Measures in 5 Areas Including Medical and Transportation for Chuseok
Minimizing Inconvenience for Residents and Visitors through Various Convenience Supports such as Traffic, Parking, Cleaning, and Medical Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will implement the ‘2020 Chuseok Comprehensive Measures’ for 11 days from the 25th to October 5th to ensure residents have a safe and comfortable holiday.
This comprehensive plan covers five areas: ▲resident safety ▲traffic flow ▲support for marginalized neighbors ▲resident convenience ▲price stabilization. It will operate a comprehensive situation room, a disaster safety quarantine headquarters for COVID-19 response, and six other situation rooms including cleaning, health, flood and wind damage, traffic, and parks to minimize resident inconvenience.
◆ Prioritizing Resident Safety During the Holiday
First, this year’s Chuseok will operate the disaster safety quarantine headquarters situation room to ensure residents can celebrate safely from COVID-19, maintaining an emergency work system to prepare for sudden heavy rain and other flood and wind damage.
Since last month, the district has been conducting a thorough inspection of disaster-vulnerable facilities such as reconstruction and redevelopment construction sites, steep slopes, retaining walls, and embankments, as well as major sewage facilities on Dongjak-daero, Heukseok-ro, and Seongdae-ro. Safety inspections are also being carried out on multi-use facilities such as parks, cinemas, cultural assets, and traditional markets.
◆ Smooth Traffic Flow During Chuseok
The district will operate a 24-hour traffic countermeasure situation room from the 30th to October 4th to handle various traffic complaints and maintain smooth traffic order, and will open 107 public and resident-priority parking lots free of charge.
Additionally, temporary parking and stopping will be allowed on roads around six traditional markets including Namseong Sagye Market, Seongdae Market, and Sadang Market to assist residents using the markets.
Furthermore, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the busy pre- and post-holiday period, village buses will be cleaned and disinfected inside and out on every run, and will operate normally by adhering to scheduled dispatch times during the holiday.
◆ Warm Chuseok with Sharing
The district will practice life support and sharing by promoting a ‘Visiting Mobile Food Market’ and a ‘Donation Sharing Campaign’ targeting low-income groups.
Various sharing events for marginalized groups and the elderly will be held at local welfare centers from Thursday the 24th to Tuesday the 29th, with plans to deliver daily necessities sets, Chuseok consolation kits, and Onnuri gift certificates as holiday gifts.
◆ Pleasant and Comfortable Chuseok
‘Chuseok Cleaning’ will be conducted at 15 community service centers until the 29th.
▲Cleaning of back alleys and side roads in residential areas will be carried out, ▲campaigns to prevent illegal dumping of garbage will be conducted, and ▲public announcements about the suspension of garbage collection during the Chuseok holiday will be made simultaneously.
Garbage collection will be suspended from the 30th to October 1st, and disposal will be possible from 5 p.m. on October 2nd.
To prepare for this, a cleaning complaint situation room will be operated, and from October 5th, manpower and equipment will be concentrated to collect household waste.
Additionally, during the holiday, sanitation workers will be assigned to maintain cleanliness at the National Cemetery, major main roads, areas prone to complaints, and 15 public restrooms.
Also, Dongjak-gu Public Health Center will organize a medical guidance team to prepare for emergencies and handle various medical complaints. Three local hospitals?Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul Boramae Hospital, and Cheonghwa Hospital?will maintain a 24-hour emergency medical system.
For detailed information on hospitals operating during the holiday or holiday duty pharmacies, residents can inquire via the district website, the comprehensive situation room, or the public health center.
◆ Economical Chuseok with Price Stability
The district has set up a price stabilization countermeasure comprehensive situation room at the Economic Promotion Division of the district office from the 25th to October 15th to monitor the supply and price trends of Chuseok seasonal items such as rice, meat, and fish, and to conduct guidance and inspections against unfair trade practices targeting personal service businesses, agricultural and marine product sellers, traditional markets, and large supermarkets.
Also, price information for a total of 20 items including agricultural, livestock, and marine products and manufactured goods sold at two local traditional markets?Namseong Sagye Market and Seongdae Traditional Market?will be disclosed on the district website.
From the 21st for five days, compliance with COVID-19 quarantine rules will be inspected at 14 traditional markets and shopping districts to help residents shop safely.
