Jeju Coast Guard Office Holds Meeting with Volunteer Leaders for Marine Pollution Prevention
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Regional Maritime Police Agency (Chief Kim Seongjong) held a meeting on the 16th by inviting volunteer leaders for marine pollution prevention in Jeju.
This meeting provided an opportunity for communication for public-private cooperation, sharing opinions on the roles and safety rules of marine pollution prevention volunteers, listening to opinions on volunteer leader training courses, and revitalizing volunteer operations.
Marine pollution prevention volunteers have been promoted and operated systematically since the large-scale marine pollution accidents such as the 2007 Taean oil spill, considering the special nature of prevention work and the harmfulness of spilled oil.
Currently, a total of 133 volunteers are active within the jurisdiction of the Jeju Maritime Police Agency.
