Sehwa Art Museum Hosts 'Memory of Hands' Exhibition
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Taekwang Group's Sehwa Art Museum will hold the exhibition "Embroidered on Memory" starting from the 16th. This exhibition is specially planned to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Taekwang Group's founding, showcasing delicate works utilizing textiles. In the recent chaotic era faced by humanity due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and other challenges, the exhibition aims to propose the value of 'artisan spirit' and life narratives still needed by today's society by featuring handcrafted and performative works that highlight the value of traditional handcrafting methods.
Five mid-career domestic artists invited to this exhibition have faithfully embedded the memories of hands into their works through warm and meticulous processes. The artists present works using various media such as textiles, installations, paintings, and media art. Visitors can see a total of about 26 works including Cho So-hee's '…where…', Choi Soo-jung's 'Portrait Landscape', Jung Moon-yeol's 'Tree of Sound', Kim Soon-im's 'Pigeon Boy: The People 19-Daniel', and Choi Sung-im's 'Garden of Night'.
Due to the spread of COVID-19 making offline visits to the exhibition hall difficult, artworks displayed inside and outside the Sehwa Art Museum located in the Gwanghwamun Heungkuk Life Insurance Building can also be viewed on the museum's website. Additionally, educational program videos related to the exhibition have been produced to provide various non-face-to-face content.
The exhibition will be held at Sehwa Art Museum in the Gwanghwamun Heungkuk Life Insurance Building in Seoul until February 28, 2021, and is free to visit except on Mondays, the museum's closed days.

Sehwa Art Museum hosts public art works and various domestic and international exhibitions in the lobby on the 1st floor and the entire 3rd floor (about 1,000㎡) of the Gwanghwamun Heungkuk Life Insurance Building in Seoul.
