Lotte Hi-Mart Holds 'Gift Giving' Event for Contactless Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Hi-Mart is holding a Chuseok gift-giving event called ‘Seonmulhagi’ (Gift Giving) until the 30th.
This event was prepared for customers who find it difficult to deliver gifts in person due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Popular Chuseok gift items such as massage chairs and coffee machines are being sold at discounted prices. Customers who use the ‘Seonmulhagi’ service on the Lotte Hi-Mart online shopping mall will be entered into a draw to receive Lotte Hi-Mart mobile gift certificates worth up to 50,000 won.
The ‘Seonmulhagi’ service is a non-face-to-face service that allows customers to gift home appliances. It was launched in May this year on the Lotte Hi-Mart online shopping mall. Customers select the product they want to gift, enter the recipient’s name and mobile phone number, and complete the payment. The gift is then sent via message along with a thank-you card. The recipient can enter their address in the message to have the gift delivered to their desired location and can also send a reply card to express their gratitude. By clicking ‘Nado Seonmulhagi’ (I also want to gift) in the message, customers are directed to the ‘Seonmulhagi’ specialty section within the Lotte Hi-Mart online shopping mall, where they can send return gifts.
Various benefits are prepared for customers purchasing gifts through ‘Seonmulhagi’. Depending on the event model, up to 40,000 L.POINTs are provided, and an additional maximum of 5,000 points are given when paying with L.PAY. To help customers who are unsure about what gift to choose, various themed sections have been opened within ‘Seonmulhagi’. Customers can conveniently shop by viewing products recommended by Lotte Hi-Mart’s online MD based on gift rankings, themes, age & gender, and price range.
Lotte Hi-Mart is also running a mobile gift certificate giveaway event. Until the 30th, 100 members of the Lotte Hi-Mart online shopping mall who purchase gifts through ‘Seonmulhagi’ will be selected by lottery to receive a 10,000 won Lotte Hi-Mart mobile gift certificate. One customer who both sends and receives gifts through ‘Seonmulhagi’ and ‘Nado Seonmulhagi’ will be selected to receive a 50,000 won mobile gift certificate, and five others will receive 10,000 won certificates. The mobile gift certificates can be used at the Lotte Hi-Mart shopping mall and at over 450 Lotte Hi-Mart stores nationwide.

Joo Kyung-jin, head of Lotte Hi-Mart’s online marketing team, said, “This year, due to a decrease in homecoming, we expect more consumers to give home appliance gifts online rather than purchasing them directly, which led us to plan this ‘Seonmulhagi’ service event. By using the ‘Seonmulhagi’ service, customers can receive recommendations for popular Chuseok gifts such as massage chairs and coffee machines and enjoy discount benefits, providing a convenient and safe shopping environment this Chuseok.”
