[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] KOTRA announced on the 16th that it is holding the 'Korea-Netherlands Startup Pitching Day' online for two days starting from the 15th in collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
According to KOTRA, on the 15th, five startups in the bio and healthcare sectors conducted their pitches. KPN Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of KPN, the Netherlands' top telecommunications company, showed interest in our company D, which developed a COVID-19 epidemiological investigation support system.
On the 16th, five companies related to artificial intelligence (AI), big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and fintech will participate. The participating startups will also receive consulting from local Dutch experts on entering the European market.
The Netherlands ranked 2nd globally in the 2018 Global Innovation Index. The proportion of startups that have successfully scaled up, such as Takeaway.com and Picnic, exceeds 15%. Most of the population speaks English fluently, making the startup entry environment one of the best in Europe.
Martin Velt, a representative of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, said, "If Korean startups want to start or scale up in the Netherlands, we can connect them to 50 facilitators across 10 industrial clusters," adding, "We are also discovering Korean startups in smart farming and gaming sectors in cooperation with KOTRA."
