Planting 200 Yellow Corydalis at Endangered Habitat Restoration Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Amorepacific Group's Innisfree Mo-eum Foundation (Chairman Jin-ho Lee) has embarked on ecological restoration of Biyangdo Island in Jeju.
On the 14th, Amorepacific Group announced that it signed a business agreement with the Jeju Life Forest Association and the Biyang-ri Village Council to restore natural ecosystems and conserve biodiversity.
These organizations believe that coexistence between people and nature is only possible when pursuing the value of purity, and have agreed to make joint efforts in forest creation and vegetation conservation.
Prior to signing the agreement, the Innisfree Mo-eum Foundation and Jeju Life Forest have been conducting a restoration project for the native Hwanggeun plant habitat on Biyangdo. They planted 10 Hwanggeun plants on 2,449㎡ near the salt marsh Perlango, and plan to plant a total of 200 plants by the end of this month. The planting work will be carried out in stages to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Jin-ho Lee, Chairman of the Innisfree Mo-eum Foundation, said, “We hope the Hwanggeun habitat restoration project will restore the original form of ‘Jeju-ness’ that Biyangdo possesses and serve as an opportunity to preserve the natural ecosystem. We will continue to pay steady attention to the investigation, research, and restoration of Biyangdo’s biological resources to maintain the island’s pure value.”
Hwanggeun blooms pale yellow flowers from June to August and is called the “Yellow Hibiscus.” It is characterized by its strong resistance to sea breeze. It is also a native plant designated as a Grade 2 endangered wild plant by the Ministry of Environment and is protected.
