Silla University and Air Busan Sign Practical Agreement for 'Pilot Intern' Training
After Selecting Interns, 3-Month Program Leads to Employment as Aircraft First Officers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A student majoring in Aviation Operations at Silla University will be hired immediately as a co-pilot after completing an internship program at Air Busan.
Silla University and Air Busan signed a practical agreement on the 11th to select and train ‘Pilot Interns’.
The Pilot Intern program is a system where students majoring in Aviation Operations at Silla University, selected as interns, undergo a three-month internship at Air Busan and are then hired as co-pilots.
On the 11th at 2 p.m., Silla University and Air Busan held a signing ceremony at Air Busan’s 7th-floor main conference room, attended by key personnel from both organizations, including Jung Chang-jae, Head of Safety at Air Busan, related officials, Lee Beom-jin, Vice President of Planning at Silla University, and professors from the Aviation Operations Department.
Through this agreement, both parties agreed to actively cooperate in operating the educational curriculum for students in the Aviation Operations Department at Silla University, hiring graduates, and improving the quality of education and training.
President Park Tae-hak of Silla University and CEO Han Tae-geun of Air Busan had previously signed an agreement in November 2018 on ‘Training Professionals for the Development of the Aviation Industry.’
The current agreement is a more detailed practical agreement to advance that previous understanding. Silla University views this agreement as a catalyst for Aviation Operations students to advance to co-pilot positions at Air Busan.
Despite the crisis in the aviation industry caused by COVID-19, Air Busan opened the door to pilot internships as an investment in the future. Through cooperation with Air Busan, the Aviation Operations Department at Silla University has expanded its employment network and secured a favorable position in attracting outstanding new students.
Air Busan, through cooperation with Silla University?the only university in the southeastern region to establish an aviation college?can now replenish the company with excellent pilots through customized training.
Additionally, Silla University and Air Busan agreed to actively cooperate not only in training pilots but also cabin crew and aircraft maintenance technicians.
Professor Kim Kwang-il of the Aviation Operations Department at Silla University expressed gratitude to Air Busan for opening the pilot internship program as part of its social contribution activities to support the local community during difficult times, saying, “Once COVID-19 ends, this cooperation between the two institutions will shine even more.”
