Incheon Yeonsu-gu Establishes Guidelines for Women-Friendly City Public Facilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, has established the 'Women-Friendly City Public Facility Guidelines' to be applied in the planning, new construction, renovation, and remodeling of public facilities.
This aims to create an environment where various users of public facilities can use them without discrimination regardless of age, gender, or disability by reflecting their needs and characteristics from the planning stage of public facility projects.
The district has prepared specific facility standards by type that can be applied to urban infrastructure such as parks, pedestrian spaces, bus stops, as well as building entrances and interior facilities, and plans to use them as recommended standards for future public facility development.
To prepare the guidelines that consider not only women but also socially vulnerable groups, the district gathered expert advice and opinions from the Women-Friendly City resident participation group and department representatives, focusing on accessibility, convenience, and safety.
