'Propofol Injection' Aekyung 2nd Generation Chae Seung-seok Sentenced to 8 Months Imprisonment and Detained in First Trial
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Former Aekyung Development CEO Chae Seung-seok, who was indicted for habitual administration of the psychotropic anesthetic 'Propofol,' was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
Judge Jeong Jong-geon of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 9 sentenced former CEO Chae, who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act, to 8 months in prison and imposed a fine of 45.32 million KRW, ordering his immediate detention in court on the 10th. The court stated, "The defendant habitually administered Propofol for over two years and provided personal information of acquaintances to have false medical records created, showing a serious nature of the crime."
Former CEO Chae was indicted for habitually administering Propofol at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul. He is also accused of conspiring with the clinic director and others to falsify medical records. The prosecution confirmed Chae's charges while investigating the clinic, which was suspected of administering Propofol to second and third-generation chaebols in November last year.
