In the Era of COVID-19 Remote Education, Elementary Content at a Glance... Launch of 'U+Chodeungnara'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] LG Uplus is launching a home learning service targeting elementary school students, following its exclusive service for toddlers, ‘U+tv Idleulnara’. From 'EBS Smart Manjeomwang', used as online school textbooks, to 'Kids Times', the number one subscription English newspaper for elementary students, all can be accessed with a single login.
On the morning of the 10th, LG Uplus held an online press conference and announced the launch of ‘U+ Chodeungnara’, a home learning service that provides six popular elementary education contents in the industry within one application. This move comes as the need for online education at home is increasing due to most schools switching to remote classes amid the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) this year.
U+ Chodeungnara is designed to offer rich education from the regular elementary curriculum to English, second foreign languages, and immersive content tailored to the child's level. First, the ‘EBS Manjeomwang’ used as an online school lecture textbook has been developed into the ‘EBS Smart Manjeomwang’ service, which allows systematic learning from concept understanding to advanced problem solving, exclusively provided. It also analyzes types of mistakes children frequently make and allows the creation of personalized error notes.
Additionally, it offers ▲ ‘Reading Gate’, where over 2,000 famous overseas English books can be read, ▲ level-based English learning through the weekly newspaper ‘Kids Times’, composed of English sentences at the US public education 3rd to 5th-grade level, and ▲ second foreign language learning tailored to elementary students’ level with play-based Chinese content from ‘Mun Jeong-a Chinese’.
Furthermore, ▲ ‘Science Play Classroom’, where children can enjoy science experiments and coding learning on their own, and ▲ ‘U+ Idleul Saengsaeng Library’, which allows reading English fairy tales from world-famous publishers through augmented and virtual reality (AR·VR), add interest to learning through immersive educational content.
U+ Chodeungnara can be used together with the exclusive kid-specialized tablet ‘U+ Chodeungnara Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’. The specialized tablet for U+ Chodeungnara is a dedicated device that can block harmful content and set usage time, priced at 495,000 KRW. Customers who own an Android operating system (OS) 7.0 or higher tablet PC can download U+ Chodeungnara through the app market after subscribing to the additional service. LG Uplus mobile customers using a plan of 88,000 KRW or more per month can use the service at a minimum of 11,000 KRW based on a 2-year contract upon subscription.
However, use on smartphones and general PCs is restricted. LG Uplus plans to expand the service to IPTV in the future.
