Seoul COVID-19 Cases Increase by 67 in One Day... 12 Confirmed Cluster Infections at Yeongdeungpo Religious Facility (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The daily number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the Seoul area has once again exceeded 60.

As of midnight on the 8th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 67 from the previous day, bringing the cumulative total to 4,429.

Among the new confirmed cases on this day, 12 monks and believers at the Yeongdeungpo-gu Ilryeonjeongjong Buddhist Temple were diagnosed positive, adding a new small-scale cluster infection case. Additionally, there were 4 cases at a call center in Gangdong-gu (cumulative 22), 3 cases at the Coupang logistics center in Songpa-gu (cumulative 8), 2 cases at Susaek Catholic Church in Eunpyeong-gu (cumulative 3), 2 cases at Bitgaon Church in Nowon-gu (cumulative 45), and 2 cases from an acquaintance gathering in Yeongdeungpo-gu (cumulative 9).

Furthermore, there was one additional confirmed case each related to National Assembly reporters (cumulative 3), the August 15 Seoul downtown rally (cumulative 123), the Haircock hair salon in Eunpyeong-gu (cumulative 11), and Hyemin Hospital in Gwangjin-gu (cumulative 19).

There were 8 cases involving contact with confirmed patients from other cities and provinces, and 16 patients whose infection routes are still under investigation.
