[Golf Topic] KLPGA "Phantom Classic Established in September"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) is establishing the Phantom Classic.
On the 8th, it announced that it had finalized an agreement with Chris F&C to hold the tournament. It will be held over three days starting from the 25th at South Links Golf Course in Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do. This event marks a revival after three years since 2017. The total prize money is 600 million KRW, and considering the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be held without spectators. The KLPGA Tour has been on a forced hiatus since last month after the MBN Ladies Open on the 16th was the last event before a series of cancellations due to COVID-19.

With the Hana Financial Group Championship, scheduled for the last week of September, postponed until November, resulting in a 'long vacation' period, a strong supporter has been found. The KLPGA Tour recently increased its budget by 2 billion KRW to contribute to the prize money and has actively sought sponsors. Woo Jin-seok, chairman of Chris F&C, said, "As a company representing the golf industry, we want to contribute to overcoming difficulties," adding, "We will successfully conclude the event through thorough quarantine measures."
