Gangdong-gu Operates Online Direct Market for Chuseok Celebration
From the 7th to the 25th, Opening Sales Channels for Sister City Farms
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is opening the 'Chuseok Sister City Specialty Products Online Direct Market' to provide residents with excellent local specialties and help farmers facing difficulties due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) during the traditional Korean holiday of Chuseok.
The district has operated an in-person direct market in front of the district office every year for Chuseok, but this year it decided to proceed with a non-face-to-face online method to prevent COVID-19 infection.
The online direct market will feature 16 sister cities nationwide that have sisterhood ties with Gangdong-gu, including ▲ Hongcheon-gun ▲ Nonsan-si, Eumseong-gun, Buyeo-gun, Cheongyang-gun ▲ Jinan-gun, Yeonggwang-gun, Gokseong-gun, Goheung-gun, Wando-gun ▲ Gyeongsan-si, Sangju-si, Jincheon-gun, Bonghwa-gun, Yeongyang-gun, Geochang-gun.
Items for sale include about 60 kinds of agricultural and marine specialties and holiday gift sets directly produced by farmers, such as Hongcheon Korean beef, Yeonggwang dried yellow corvina, Sangju dried persimmons, mushrooms, black soybeans (Seoritae), and red pepper powder.
The order period is from the 7th to the 25th before the Chuseok holiday. Prospective buyers can refer to the promotional leaflet available on the district office website or at the community service centers, then place orders by phone with the sellers and pay via bank transfer or visit the sellers' websites to order and pay.
