Police File Multiple Internet Users Over Posts Including 'Choo Mi-ae Adultery Rumors'
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Numerous netizens who posted allegations of an affair involving Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae on online platforms have been collectively booked by the police.
According to the police on the 7th, the Seoul Seocho Police Station summoned Mr. A, the operator of an internet cafe who was reported on the 1st for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, for questioning as a suspect.
Mr. A was reported by Minister Choo for posting articles on the internet cafe he operated regarding allegations of her affair and suspicions about her son's failure to return from military leave during his service. The police plan to transfer the case to the prosecution soon based on Mr. A's statements and the collected evidence.
Initially, Minister Choo's side filed a complaint with the Seoul Gwanak Police Station requesting punishment for 19 individuals, including Mr. A, who spread the affair allegations online. The complaint was reportedly filed by Minister Choo's aides.

The police transferred 10 of these cases to the police stations with jurisdiction over the residences of the accused, while 9 cases were closed due to the unidentified identities of the accused. Some cases that have completed investigations are already known to have been sent to the prosecution.
