The Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 7th that it plans to implement the 'KGS Smart Inspection System,' a non-face-to-face gas safety inspection system using portable devices, from March next year.
Once the system is implemented, it will be possible to handle on-site tasks such as querying business information and facility standards, registering inspection results, checking inspection history, and issuing inspection certificates all at once using portable devices.
The project was introduced to proactively implement non-face-to-face inspections by minimizing customer contact amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The overall inspection system will be revamped to improve both the efficiency of inspectors' work and customer satisfaction. Most inspection tasks will be conducted on-site.
After infrastructure construction, application development, and pilot operation in the second half of this year, the system is scheduled to be implemented from March next year.
With the introduction of the system, information related to inspections, such as parts that failed the previous year and facility changes, can be checked all at once on-site through the portable device.
This differs from the existing system where blueprints of the inspected businesses were checked on paper or confirmed by directly contacting the businesses.
Information on changed technical standards, etc., can be queried in real-time on-site.
Various certificates and non-compliance notices will be automatically sent via email and post office, minimizing unnecessary contact between customers and staff.
The system will shift from the previous method where inspectors separately conducted 'on-site inspection and office paperwork' to a system where inspection results are processed all at once through the on-site portable device.
This will reduce the inspection result processing period from the existing 2-3 days to just one day.
