Seoul Reports 63 New COVID-19 Cases... 15 More Linked to Gangdong-gu Call Center (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul reported 63 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in one day, maintaining below 60 cases for four consecutive days. Among them, 16 related cases were confirmed in Seoul due to a cluster infection at a call center in Gangdong-gu.
As of midnight on the 6th, Seoul City announced that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 63 from the previous day, reaching a cumulative total of 4,313 cases.
The number of new confirmed cases in Seoul has remained below 60 since recording triple digits at 101 on the 1st of this month, followed by 69 on the 2nd, 68 on the 3rd, and 51 on the 4th.
On this day, new confirmed cases included 15 at a call center in Gangdong-gu (cumulative 16), 3 at a logistics center in Songpa-gu (cumulative 4), 2 from the Gwangbokjeol rally (cumulative 120), 2 at Hyemin Hospital in Gwangjin-gu (cumulative 18), and 2 at a card issuance company in Dongjak-gu (cumulative 28).
The Gangdong-gu call center is a sales office that calls customers to encourage mobile phone subscriptions, and 80% of the total 20 employees have been infected, prompting Seoul City to conduct an epidemiological investigation.
Additionally, among the new confirmed cases on this day, 16 cases have yet to have their infection routes identified.

So far in Seoul, 2,225 confirmed patients have been treated and discharged, while 2,063 are currently in isolation treatment. The death toll increased by one, totaling 26 deaths.
